According to HAVEN in Oakland county “Oakland County alone saw more homicides related to domestic violence.
“We’re seeing an increase in our sexual assault examination cases and with those cases what we’re seeing is an increase in strangulation,” said Nimeh.“ article cited below.
I know I’m not alone in being one of these victims. And surely there is more to come. DND is a place to come share your struggles. Let’s be a stepping stone for each other. I created this space separate of social media to keep identities private until we are able and stable to leave any abusive situation we might be in. Resources for help if you are in a situation like this are found in the articles below. If you are at a point where joining this group is what you need please do that!
Wether you have been abusing, or being abused we need to heal. Believe victims, help addicts. I assure you a high percentage of those cases involve a intimate relationship- as elaborated on in the article and based on factual evidence. There is usually also a drug abuse or alcohol or percription drug use or other underlying mental health problem with the parties involved. I’m no expert on these matters and merely am conveying information found locally to me…according to another source below - 80% are linked to either drug and/or alcohol abuse. Abuse isn’t just physical or emotional - there are many forms of abuse.
Please check in with your women- look for signs of changes in personality from them. I assure you I hid away, lied to my family, said it was “OK” for FAR TOO long. I had to get strangled and almost die to realize I still had value and I didn’t want to die.
lean on others you can lean on me this is a space to share in your struggles- don’t let me be the only one.
